How to Take Care of a Damascus Steel Knife

A Damascus steel knife is known for its sharp edge, durability and beautiful pattern. But like any quality tool, it needs simple care to stay in good condition over time. Here are a few easy tips to keep your knife sharp and looking great.


1. Use the right cutting surface

Avoid glass, stone or marble cutting boards – they can damage the blade. Use wood or plastic instead, as they are much gentler on the edge.


2. Wash by hand only

Do not put a Damascus knife in the dishwasher. The heat, detergent and humidity can damage the blade. Simply wash it by hand with warm water, then dry it immediately with a soft cloth.


3. Sharpen when needed
